Akrotiri Lighthouse

Perched at the southernmost tip of Santorini's caldera rim near the Akrotiri archaeological site, this 19th-century working lighthouse is one of the island's most tranquil sunset viewpoints. Unlike Oia, there are no crowds, no restaurants selling overpriced drinks, and no tour groups. Just the lighthouse, the cliff edge, and the view across the caldera to the volcano and the far rim of Oia in the north.

The lighthouse itself is still operational and not generally open to the public, but the grounds around it are freely accessible. Combine with a visit to the nearby Bronze Age archaeological site of Akrotiri — one of the best-preserved prehistoric settlements in Europe, often called the "Minoan Pompeii" — for a full afternoon. The site includes frescoes, multi-story buildings and sophisticated drainage systems dating to 1627 BC.
